Weekend adventure…

August 19, 2008

Just a quick note to tell you all about my weekend adventure. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Blog Her event at La Maison Rustique in Temecula. It was so much fun seeing so many incredible artists all in once place. It reminded me of the Silver Bella vendor fair. So many goodies.

I guess I was so busy gabbing and socializing that I forgot to actually take pictures! But I did get a couple, including the one I took this morning of the lovely canvas treasure I picked up from Beth Quinn! Honestly, this girl was meant to come home with me. Why, you ask?

Well, the first time I saw her, she was for sale at the Artistic Affair event that I attended back in May. I could barely keep my hands off of her, but for whatever reason, I talked myself out of buying her. When I saw her at Beth’s booth this weekend, I knew that it was destiny. Yeah, I know that sounds silly, but really… why else would she still be available? And I LOVE HER!

Things are still crazy…

August 16, 2008

Things are starting to settle down for me a bit, but it’s still crazy around here. The boys will be starting school soon and I haven’t even ordered their school books yet! (No worries, it’s on the schedule for next week) The puppies are getting big and will be heading to the vet on Monday for their “alterations.” I can’t believe that they are already old enough for that. Trixie is a total pool pup. She will actually jump in the pool on her own just for fun – even if there is nobody else in there! Of course, I don’t have any pictures of it right now because I’ve been so busy, but I’ll post some when I have them. So super cute!

Things at the store have been absolutely crazy, in a fun, good way. We started receiving some of our home decor items, which made Mel and me actually jump for joy! Be sure to click on the link to check out the goodies. Yummy!

Wednesday, I had the chance to hang out with my friend Kim at her beautiful home in Culver City. At the last minute, she had to back out of going to Art in Ashland, which was a total bummer. So, while I was there, I collected all of her class goodies and on Wednesday we started working on her classes together. It was so much fun getting together and creating another art journal. Kim’s book is absolutely amazing! She is definitely a quick learner. Here is the journal that I was able to make:

I still have to complete the inside covers of this journal. I just refused to work faster than need be. But, I am happy to say that I was able to recreate what Pam Garrison taught us in class. I just might have to go journal crazy now!

Alrighty, I’m off to this today:

Here’s hoping I don’t spend too much money… ;-)

Back from Ashland

August 6, 2008

I had a really great time in Ashland over the last few days. I learned a lot of new art concepts and got really messy! Of course, it’s late and I have to work first thing in the morning. However, the most asked question is always, “What did you make?” So I thought I would throw out my FINISHED projects. Yes, you read that right. I finished all of the projects that I started. What a great feeling. I’ll post more about it later, but for now, here are some pics…

Canvas From Anahata’s Class

Then, the funniest thing happened. I’ll try to make a long story short. Back in June, I ordered an old, antique journal from some random person on ebay. Over a month went by before he ever even sent me an invoice to tell me how much shipping would cost. I had every intention on bringing this journal with me to Art in Ashland to make as my art journal.

Well, I tell you, God was really watching out for me because the thing never arrived and I ended up using a different journal (the one seen above). Well, when I got home today, the package was waiting for me. Oh my goodness! I have never laughed so hard in all of my life. Check it out:

This thing is GIGANTIC! My very well read husband said to me, “I don’t think I have ever seen a book that big in my life. I thought they only made stuff like that in the movies!.” Seriously, this thing has to weigh over 20 pounds! It is larger than my 11×14 canvas! What the heck? I guess I should be reading those ebay descriptions a little bit better. Maybe I can use it as some kind of fun Halloween prop…

WOOHOO!

August 1, 2008

I’m ready to throw a party! My computer is FINALLY up and running normally! All of my programs, documents and photos have been restored and I’m able to continue with business as usual! Good gracious, it seems like it has been FOREVER!

Thanks for all of you kind words of support and understanding during this most trying time. Now, I’m off to finish editing some images that should have been completed 3 weeks ago!
