April 27, 2008

Holy smokes! It was really hot here this weekend – 101 degress where I live! Ugh. I actually wore shorts all day long today, even when I made a trip to Joann’s this morning. Anyone who knows me knows that I NEVER wear shorts. I hate them. They never look right on me. Although I have really long legs, they just are not attractive now that I’m older and quite overweight. And what is it with them riding up all the time? I feel like I am always having to pull them down – like every 3 steps or so. Is there some sort of trick to getting them to stay down, or what?

Anyway, I’ve been busy all weekend finishing up some swaps. I would love to show you, but I want them to be a surprise for those participating, so it will have to wait. I will tell you, though, that I finished the “homes” and my “room” for the “There’s No Place Like Home” swap I’m hosting. For those of you in this swap, I think you are really going to love your finished home. I also finished the altered canvas for my swap partner who will be attending An Artistic Affair with me. Again, I can’t show you because my partner does not know that I have been assigned to her. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that she will like what I have created for her.

Still muddling through the laundry. Can you believe it? And I looked in the boys’ rooms… there’s more in there! That’s what I hate so much about the laundry. I just never ends!

I’ll be working at It’s About Time Scrapbooking this Friday from 6pm until 2:30am. The store is having some really fun crop time in honor of National Scrapbook Day. What are your plans??

Play time

April 19, 2008

I needed to take a little play time today. I’ve been running around for so long that I was beginning to feel like a chicken with my head cut off. So, today I took a little time for myself to just play. Of course, I didn’t get much done, but that’s alright. I feel a little more settled and ready to face the work week.

First, I had a couple of appointments for weddings today. One ended up cancelling, the othe came by and seemed happy wth my work and my contract. We’ll see what happens from there.

Then, Will and I decided to make some YUMMY chicken and rice for dinner. My mother used to make this all the time and I swear it is the best chicken ever. As a matter of fact, my son told me that it was the best chicken he had ever had in his life. That means it must be good, right? ;-)

Anyway, if you are interested, to make the chicken, you just put your bone in chicken in a pyrex dish. Add equal parts of orange juice and soy sauce (one cup to one cup). Bake in the oven at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes and voila! The best chicken you have ever tasted. Not only good tasting, but little mess, which means little clean up. Gotta love that!

After dinner, it was of to create. I ended up finishing a piece that I started about 2 months ago. I had gotten some heavy gel medium and spread it on a canvas, but I couldn’t decide where I wanted to go from there. Well, today, I decided that I needed to just do and not think so much. This is what I came up with…

I am very happy with the way it turned out. It’s always fun to play with paint and ink, don’t you think?

Still working on the videos

April 15, 2008

Editing video is not as easy as it seems. In the meantime, here are some of the projects that I have comepleted from the Inspired event.

This one is from Jennifer Stewart’s class. It is gorgeous!

This one is from Christina’s Class. The photo is of my grandmother. It was her high school portrait. I just thought it worked so perfectly with the fabric. Can’t wait to show it to her (grandma).

Hopefully, I’ll have a video for you soon.

Back in Florida

April 13, 2008

Ugh! I just could not get the videos to upload from the hotel room. So, I’m back in Florida with Zanne right now. The event was INCREDIBLE! Donna and Bill completely out did themselves. They are amazing hosts! More about the event later. For now, here’s another video. Sorry for the sound issues and the misspelling of Lance Anderson’s name. That’s what happens when you try to edit video clips at 1am!

Hey everyone. No… I’m not too busy to post. I’m having internet issues. For some reason I can’t seem to upload videos right now. I will try again later. Right now, we’re off to eat and do a little shopping. We are all registered for everything at Inspired. The event starts tonight at 6pm! Hopefully, I’ll have some video for you later…

April 8, 2008

Had a great time. Have to get up way too early in the morning… especially considering it’s almost 1am now, but I wanted to be sure to post this video before I left.
